Momofuku Noodle Bar

Neighborhood: East Village

171 First Ave.
New York, NY 10003

This ramen house is one of my favorites in New York City and a perfect meal as the temperature falls. I typically go for their namesake, the momofuku ramen with pork belly, pork shoulder, and a poached egg. They have daily specials, soju slushies, and fried chicken (reserved in advance for 4-8 people).

Mission Chinese Food

Neighborhood: Lower East Side

154 Orchard St.
New York, NY 10002

Mission Chinese Food is hands-down one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Even if the food wasn’t amazing, I’d still come for the Twin Peaks themed bathroom. Walk down the stairs at what looks like an unassuming Chinese take-out spot and find yourself in a red lit back room with a Chinese dragon hanging from the ceiling over packed tables and the restaurant bar. Try the mouth-watering Tiki Spare Ribs, famous Salt Cod Fried Rice, and Pork, Eel, and Celery Dumplings. Warning: order chef Danny Bowien’s incendiary Chongqing Chicken Wings (pictured above) at your own risk.

Great food, beautiful staff, and a fun atmosphere. Some of my favorite dishes are the jerk chicken, ackee dip and plantain chips, and Lily's burger.

Slightly overpriced, but great food, beautiful staff, and a fun atmosphere. Some of my favorite dishes are the Jerk Chicken ($21), Ackee Dip and plantain chips  ($10), Lily’s burger ($16), and Jerk Grilled Corn ($5).

Cheeky Sandwiches

Neighborhood: Chinatown

The chicken sandwich is the best sandwich I've ever had. Fried chicken sandwiched between buttermilk biscuits, with coleslaw and gravy.
